Multiple websites are promoting “ECO5 grants”. As of August 2026, ECO5 has not been confirmed by the Government. ECO4 closes December 2026. The Warm Homes Plan — not ECO5 — is what replaces it. Here are the confirmed facts.
There is currently NO confirmed ECO5 scheme. The Government has not announced an ECO5 successor to ECO4. We will not report it as confirmed until the Government does. This page exists specifically to correct the misinformation being circulated.
After ECO4 closes on 31 December 2026, multiple commercial websites and insulation companies are already promoting “ECO5 grants” as though the scheme is confirmed. As of August 2026, this is not accurate.
The Government has confirmed its direction: the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) model — where energy suppliers fund insulation measures as part of their regulatory obligation — is coming to an end. The stated policy direction is toward publicly funded delivery through Warm Homes programmes.
Official Government position: The Warm Homes Plan explicitly signals the transition away from supplier-obligation ECO funding toward direct public funding through Warm Homes Local Grant, Warm Homes Loan Scheme and future Warm Homes programmes.
| Scheme | Status | Replaces ECO? |
|---|---|---|
| Warm Homes: Local Grant | ✅ Active now | Partially — for eligible households, covers insulation + solar + heat pumps |
| Warm Homes Loan Scheme | 🕐 Consumer rollout ~Sept 2026 | Complementary — subsidised finance for homeowners who don’t qualify for grants |
| Future Warm Homes programmes | 🕐 Planned but not detailed | Government intends further delivery but specifics not confirmed |
| ECO5 | ❌ Not confirmed | No Government announcement |
Act before December 2026: ECO4 closes on 31 December 2026. If you believe your household may qualify — through benefits, low income or EPC rating D–G — the time to check is now, not after the scheme closes.
Check Warm Homes Local Grant: The WH:LG is currently the most significant publicly funded scheme available to homeowners who may not benefit from ECO4. It covers solar, insulation, heat pumps, batteries and smart controls.
Warm Homes Loan Scheme: If you don’t qualify for a grant, the Warm Homes Loan Scheme (Warm Homes Loan Scheme rollout is underway. The first lender application round has closed, with further lender participation expected later in 2026. Consumer products will become available as approved lenders launch them.
No. As of August 2026, there is no confirmed ECO5 scheme. The Government has stated that the ECO supplier-obligation model is ending. What replaces it is the Warm Homes Plan and its associated programmes, not a new ECO-style obligation.
ECO4 is currently extended to 31 December 2026. Applications and installations must be completed before this date. After December 2026, the scheme closes.
The Warm Homes Plan is the Government\'s £15 billion overarching strategy to upgrade UK homes by 2030. It includes the Warm Homes: Local Grant (currently open), the Warm Homes Loan Scheme (rollout developing in 2026) and planned future programmes.
Commercial websites and insulation companies have incentive to create urgency around grant funding. Some are claiming ECO5 is launching. We have seen no Government announcement confirming this. We will update this page the moment any ECO successor is officially announced.
We would not recommend waiting for an unconfirmed scheme. ECO4 is still open and closes December 2026. The Warm Homes Local Grant is active now. Check your eligibility for current schemes rather than waiting for something that has not been announced.
