The Great British Insulation Scheme is no longer accepting applications. The primary government-backed scheme for insulation in England is now ECO4, which runs until 31 December 2026.
ECO4 requires energy suppliers to fund insulation and heating improvements for eligible households. Eligibility depends on household income, benefit entitlement, and EPC rating (typically D-G). Measures can include loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation, and first-time central heating.
Offers £7,500 towards qualifying air source and ground/water source heat pump installations. Installer must be MCS certified. Property must be no EPC requirement (the EPC/insulation-recommendation rule was removed on 28 April 2026).
Funding allocated to local councils to deliver energy-saving measures to eligible low-income households. Measures can include insulation, solar panels, heat pumps, and smart controls. Availability depends on your local council.
Welsh homeowners may qualify for insulation, heating, and renewable energy improvements through Welsh Nest. Contact the Warm Wales programme or Home Energy Wales for current eligibility.
Scottish homeowners and private tenants on eligible benefits may qualify for funded energy improvements through Warmer Homes Scotland. Contact Home Energy Scotland for current availability and to apply.
