How It Works — InsulationComparisons.com

One Independent Check. One Matched Installer. Zero Sales Pressure.

Step 2 of 3

We compare your options independently

Based on your answers, our comparison engine identifies which insulation types are suitable for your property, what they should cost in your area, what savings you might expect, and whether any grants may apply. We don’t rank options based on who pays us — we rank them by suitability and value for your specific situation.

📊

Independent scoring

We score insulation types on thermal performance, cost-effectiveness, longevity, risk and suitability for your property type. No manufacturer or installer influences these scores.

💰

Grant eligibility check

We cross-reference your household details against current ECO4, Boiler Upgrade Scheme and regional grant criteria to identify whether you may qualify for funded or subsidised work.

📍

Local cost benchmarking

We benchmark expected costs for your region, property type and the recommended measure, so you have a realistic starting point before speaking with any installer.

Step 3 of 3

One matched installer contacts you

If you choose to proceed, we pass your details to one appropriate local installer — not three, not five, not a call-centre that auctions your contact to the highest bidder. One installer who specialises in the recommended measure for your property type in your area.

✅ What you get

  • One call or email from one installer
  • A site survey (usually free)
  • A fixed-price quote based on your property
  • Confirmation of any grant eligibility

⚠ What we don’t do

  • Sell your details to multiple companies
  • Make money from how many calls you receive
  • Recommend installers based on who pays us most
  • Send you unsolicited marketing
✅ Our business model

We receive a referral fee from the installer only when a job is successfully completed. This aligns our interests with yours: we only do well when you get good work done at a fair price. We have no incentive to refer you to a poor-quality or overcharging installer.

About us

Why we built InsulationComparisons.com

UK homeowners deserve genuinely independent advice about home energy improvements. The market is dominated by comparison sites that are paid by the companies they rank, manufacturers’ marketing claiming their product is best, and lead aggregators who make money by selling your details to as many companies as possible.

InsulationComparisons.com was built to be different: evidence-based scoring, honest information about what works and what doesn’t, and a single trusted installer match rather than a bombardment of sales calls.

Common questions

Is the comparison really free?
+

Yes. The home energy check, the comparison results, the grant eligibility check and the initial installer contact are all free of charge. We receive a referral fee from the installer only when work is completed — not before, and not at the comparison stage.

Will I be bombarded with calls?
+

No. We pass your details to one installer only. If that installer is not able to help or you decide not to proceed, we do not pass your details to other companies. You can also withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.

How do you choose which installer to match me with?
+

We match based on specialism, location and availability. We consider the measure recommended for your property, geographic coverage, installer credentials (CIGA membership for cavity wall, Microgeneration Certification Scheme for solar and heat pumps), and capacity to take on new work.
