The rules every page on this site is written and maintained under.
Scheme facts — values, dates, eligibility, status — are checked against official sources: GOV.UK, DESNZ, Ofgem, HMRC and administering bodies. Policy pages carry a visible verification date and a direct link to the governing source. Cost figures state their basis; where our own quote data isn’t yet sufficient, we use labelled national benchmarks rather than invented local numbers.
When Government changes a scheme, affected pages are updated and the verification date refreshed — scheme releases (such as quarterly WH:LG statistics) are tracked and incorporated on publication day where possible. Factual errors are corrected on the page as soon as identified; materially wrong guidance gets a visible correction note.
Content is never ranked or shaded by commercial payment. Our revenue model — installer match fees on completed work — is disclosed in full at How We Make Money, and pages recommend official scheme routes wherever they beat commercial ones.
Every calculator states its assumptions on the page — yields, rates, degradation, inflation — and presents results as planning estimates, not quotes. The Home Energy Checker’s scoring prioritises fabric-first logic and will mark products “not a priority” where your answers indicate it.
Facts checked 21 August 2026. We link to official sources and show when facts were last verified. If a scheme changes, we update the page.
Free, independent, 60 seconds. We compare every option, check Government scheme eligibility and match you with one trusted local installer if you want one.
