August 2026 Release — Headline Numbers

5,470 households upgraded · 11,250 measures installed to end-July 2026 (July release: ~5,100 / 10,460 — a +370 household, +790 measure month). Measure mix: Solar PV 38% · insulation 24% · batteries 18% (up from 17%). TrustMark holds ~14,700 lodged measures across ~6,700 households, so validated totals are likely to revise upward under DESNZ’s new methodology of back-filling incomplete Grant Recipient records from TrustMark data.

Regional Delivery

South East: 23% of upgraded homes · North West: 19% — and the deepest retrofits at 2.33 measures per household · East of England: 14%. Delivery runs through 74 projects covering 271 local authorities (97%+ of eligible England); councils allocate annually, so local pauses between funding years are normal.

What the Data Means for Applicants

Solar leading at 38% confirms councils fund the highest-impact measures — if you’re eligible, a funded solar+battery package is realistic, not theoretical. Rising battery share (17→18%) shows storage riding along. Check the three routes in, or run your postcode.

AC vs DC coupling for retrofits

AC-coupled (battery has its own inverter) is the retrofit default: no rewiring of your array, works with any brand or age of system, £3,500–£6,000 installed for 5–10kWh usable. DC-coupled only makes sense if your inverter is due replacement anyway — a hybrid inverter + battery swap can be cheaper combined.

FiT and export safety

Feed-in Tariff payments are unaffected by adding storage — generation payments continue and deemed export isn’t metered down. On SEG, a battery lets you shift export into peak-price windows instead.

Sizing the retrofit

Match usable capacity to your evening consumption and summer surplus — the sizing guide has the tables. Most 4kWp homes land at 5–8kWh usable.
